  7.     And who is that curmudgeon hopping down the corridors of
  8. cbs? Why, it's Andy Rooney with his foot in his mouth -- again.
  9. Suspended in 1990 after dismissing the death of gay men from
  10. AIDS as "self-induced," the 60 Minutes commentator has now
  11. outraged American Indians with a newspaper column that defended
  12. athletic teams with names like the Washington Redskins while
  13. belittling Native American religion ("meaningless
  14. superstitions"), culture ("There's no Indian art") and
  15. grievances ("They can't have their country back. Next
  16. question"). Says an Indian-rights activist: "It's a David Duke
  17. column about Indians." Though Rooney cites "a good number of
  18. Indian books" as sources, his ideas seem shaped more by F Troop.
